Welcome
to The Red Letters
Welcome
I’m glad you’re here.
This site grew out of a simple conviction I’ve come to trust over time: Jesus does not form people by resolving their uncertainty. He walks with them. He speaks as they go. He asks questions, tells stories, teaches prayer, and stays close long after understanding feels incomplete.
I’ve spent years serving congregations in rural eastern North Carolina, preaching week by week, gathering people around Scripture, and listening to the questions that surface when faith meets real life. I hold a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School, but far more of what shaped this work came from sitting with people who were learning—slowly—how to trust, pray, and follow without having everything settled.
Much of what you’ll read here began as sermons, Bible studies, and long reflections that refused to hurry toward answers. Over time, they became an invitation to stay with Jesus in the words he spoke—the red letters—and to notice how those words continue to form us when we give them room.
I do not write as an expert standing above the text. I write as a companion, learning to stay near it. I believe Jesus still forms his people through presence rather than mastery, through attention rather than certainty, through words that are meant to be lived with over time.
If you’re weary of faith that moves too fast, or if you’re learning to trust that questions can be a form of grace, you’re welcome here. You don’t need to read everything. You don’t need to agree with everything right away.
Just stay a while. Walk slowly. Listen closely.
That’s how formation happens.

Our space is Scripture-shaped, returning again and again to the actual words Jesus spoke—the red letters of the Gospel. We invite these words to interrupt our assumptions and reorder our desires, trusting that staying near to the Source is what truly transforms the heart. This is a place for lingering, not for rushing; for depth, not for speed.
This is an invitation to walk with Jesus over time, without the pressure to arrive or produce results. Whether through silent reflection, shared stories, or lingering questions, we seek to cultivate a life of attentive presence. We trust that faith is formed slowly, in the quiet rhythms of remaining with the One who calls us friends.
